Aug. 2, 2004: I checked into Grinnell Hospital for Gastric
By-pass Surgery. Some have asked me why I decided to do this.
The best answer I can give is that I wanted to be alive longer for
my family and friends. I had reached the unhealthy weight of 326lbs
and had high blood pressure and sleep disorders. These conditions
along with my back, leg, and feet problems made for a very easy
choice.
The surgery went well and I spent 4 days in the hospital. I
spent a total of 3 weeks out of work.
Sept. 1: I have lost 35 lbs and feeling good. I do not feel hungry
and I only eat when it is time to eat. I do miss the eating only
because I did enjoy it so. I have no fear of over eating again as it
hurts so bad when I do.

Oct. 1: I have lost 60 lbs and
I feel great! I am fitting into pants that I have not had on in over 2
years. I have decided that my goal is to be able to put my Air Force
uniform on again...I have a long way to go.

November and December were very
busy months so I had lost track of time and forgot to take the
pictures. The end of the year has brought me a loss of 85 lbs. I have
so much more energy and I feel so much better.

There have been many requests for some updated pictures. The most
up to date pictures are the January and February pictures. I will take
some more this weekend.
Ok, I have really been slacking when it comes to updating the site with
new pictures. Sorry, I have no excuse. It is now Oct 18, 2005 and I have
lost 105lbs. I am getting into pants that are 14in smaller than the size
that I had. I need to lose 4 more inches to get into my goal outfit (My Air
Force uniform). I will try to do better in updating this part of the site.
